Health and Beauty Sustainably

Choose wisely when it comes to taking care of yourself and those around you.

Our health and beauty products contribute to waste and most of them are made up of chemicals that over time can cause serious health issues.

Beauty brands have a habit in making us feel like we need to absolutely have it all. Whether that is all the in season clothes, or all the skin care products. Reality is that most beauty brands are unsustainable.

Most of our skin care products are full of chemicals and toxins that do the exact opposite of what is intended. They are tested on animals and some contain animal by products. And the list goes on. When we are done using all those products, they accumulate waste in our landfills.

What we can do

â—¦ As always be aware of what you buy, from the ingredients to the packaging.

â—¦ Opt for packaging that can be reuse, typically stainless steel or glass containers.

â—¦ Invest in products that are refillable.

◦ Buy just the essentials.

Impactful Swaps to Make â—¦ Disposable razors for safety razor.

â—¦ Swap your period pads/tampons for either reusable pads or menstrual cups.

◦ Swap your tooth brush for a wooden/bamboo toothbrush. Did you know that every toothbrush you’ve ever used is still in landfills, and more than likely intact.

â—¦ Make up removers for reusable cotton pads.

â—¦ Dental flossers for dental floss.

“Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are. “ -Markus Zusak.
